Hello Friends, welcome to “Learn mechanical design from Rahul.”

The moment I saw the CATIA and Solidworks software the first thing that came to my mind was what is the difference between CATIA and Solidworks  But today after learning both tools do you know what I feel? Developers did the best task ever. They have given amazing power to CATIA and Solidworks users. A bit of learning is required and you can become a power user of CATIA and Solidworks like me. CATIA is not easy to learn and Solidworks is easy to learn but both software is best to learn.

CATIA- CATIA is the most powerful software. Catia is not easy to learn and not user-friendly and not an easier user interface. It is developed by a Dassault system. Catia is a plm program. Catia is used for larger projects and it is used in MNC companies and big companies. Catia license is costly. Catia licensing starts from 25000 dollars. Catia is used in surfacing and does not advance surfacing features. Catia is used for design and electrical mechanical streams. Catia lacks sheet metal design features such as forming tools, bend lines toggle flat display, and hole table. Readable files supported are ASCII, Dxf, and IGES only.

SOLIDWORKS- solid work is easy to learn and user-friendly software. The solid work interface is very easy to learn. It is developed by the Dassault system. Solidwork is a 3d cad program. Solid work is used for smaller projects and it is used in small skill companies. A solid work license is cheaper. solid work licensing starts from 6000 dollars. Advanced surfacing features that can create solid work. All sheet metal features are available in solid works. Solidwork is used for design, electrical, and mechanical streams except for architectural designs. Readable files supported are ascis, asm, BMP,drw, dwg, and ASCII.

Hello Friends, welcome to “Learn mechanical design from Rahul.” Myself Rahul. I am a Mechanical Engineer and a blogger as well. I have recently started my blogging journey. I feel like sharing my experiences through blogs with you. Blogging was my passion for a very long but recently I have started taking steps toward writing.

The moment I saw the CATIA toolbar the first thing that came to my mind was "This is so confusing! Why the hell there are so many buttons? Why can't developers create something simple?" But today after learning this tool do you know what I feel? Developers did the best task ever. They have given amazing power to CATIA users. A bit of learning is required and you can become a power user of CATIA like me. So let me help you with the CATIA user interface and one of the toolbars.

I used the CATIA user interface it was very hard for me but I learned the CATIA user interface after that this is very easy and useful for me.

I will explain the Catia user interface in this blog.

The various parts of the CATIA user interface,

      1. Menu bar
      2. Toolbars
      3. Specification tree
      4. 3D Compass
      5. Default planes
      6. Geometry axis

       1. Menu bar= Menu bar is a collection of options. Menu bar options are used for various types of designs, tasks, and projects. Various types of options in the menu bar such as file, edit, view, insert tools, and windows.

File- New, open, save, save as, etc.

Edit- cut, copy, paste, undo, repeat, etc.

      View- toolbars

2.Toolbars= toolbar is a collection of various types of tools. The toolbar is used for calculations of design, zoom in, and out of the part, set of views for any 2d and 3d parts, and rotating the part. Various types of options in the menu bar such as zoom in, zoom out, rotate, pan, fit all in, view, etc.

      3. Specification tree= Specification tree is the main body of any type of design. XY-YZ-ZX plane is shown in the specification tree. Any types of command, operation, or tools applied in design are shown in the specification tree. It appears on the top left side of the CATIA V6 user interface.

4.3D Compass= The 3D compass is shown at the top right side of the CATIA interface. It is used to change the orientation of any type of parts, assemblies, or sketches.  you can also change the orientation of the views of parts and assemblies. The 3D compass is displayed below the figure.

      5. Default planes= three planes are shown at the center of the CATIA user interface: XY-plane, YZ-plane, and ZX-plane. You can use any of these planes for drawing the sketch of a model (shape). The orientation of a model depends on its sketch. you should carefully select the sketching plane for drawing the sketch of the model. it is used for the design of any part, or sketch.

      6. Geometry axis=  CATIA V6 follows a 3D-coordinate system, which has three axes: X, Y, and Z. Each of these axes represents a direction that is perpendicular to each of the other two axes. These axes represent the length, width, and height (depth) of an object.

Thank you for reading my entire blog. If you are thinking about who is teaching him such excellent Digital Marketing or blogging skills. I will start with the CATIA toolbar In my next blog. The answer is the Mazavyapar community. Feel free to visit www.mazavyapar.com
